About

The Glocal Workshop/L’Atelier Glocal/El Taller Glocal

Our project was born in 2017 and has had many adventures and misadventures. It was born from the meeting of groups and individuals who have been involved in publishing, translation, writing and activism for freedom, justice, and democracy for many years. We have formalised this project in an association registered in France, but with members and partners all over the world. We have a large volume of unpublished or no longer available texts in various languages. We are a glocal workshop, which means that we target a worldwide (global) audience with books from our local roots. We are human and therefore nothing human is foreign to us. We use machines and try not to become slaves to them. We work horizontally and cooperatively according to two principles: 1 – One man = One woman = One voice. 2 – The right person in the right place. We therefore do not establish any hierarchy between authors, translators, publishers, illustrators, vendors, and others. We refuse to be locked into narrow specialisations, trying to share the work in the most reasonable and coherent way possible. We believe in keeping our word and we do not judge anyone

Our Agenda

We start our publications with 12 books in French, 4 in English and 4 in Spanish, on sale on 21 March, Other languages will follow. Our German books will continue to be sold by ProMosaik Editions, co-founders of The Glocal Workshopl, on the German platform epubli.

Our Conditions Of Publication

Any publication will be subject to a written contract between The Glocal Workshop and the persons concerned, specifying the rights and duties of each. As we are a non-profit organisation, we plan to invest our financial income in new productions and to pay any person involved by expressing the need according to sales, according to a percentage defined in our contract. It should be noted that the active core of our project is made up of unpaid volunteers and that the money needed to pay for certain external services is collected from the members of our association.

Crowdfunding

We are simultaneously launching a crowdfunding campaign to finance external services. Don’t hesitate to contribute! Every cent counts!
